Magnolia is a game I worked on with a team. The game is a tribute to a little girl named Magnolia who died from an illness at a very young age. Our goal was to create a meaningful tribute to Magnolia for her family’s sake. It won a couple of awards and is being shown at PAX.
Rather than a game of mechanics, I designed a poetic and short journey through various environments trying to capture how fulfilling a life can be regardless of its length. Magnolia was a strong and brave little girl that brought joy to all those around her, and if this game captures a tenth of the happiness she spread, then I will consider it a huge success.
